Last Saturday’s July 18 Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival Junior Parade in Malvern Scarborough featured some 1,500 Kiddie masqueraders strutting their stuff. The Parade also attracted the attendance of many political notables including Ontario’s Premier Kathleen Wynne, Toronto’s Mayor, John Tory, Bas Balkissoon, Raymond Cho, Rathika Sitsabaiesan and even Opposition Leader Justin Trudeau.

Saturday, August 1 is the date for this year’s 9th Annual Caribbean Music Fest Main Event: Ladies Night Out Boat Cruise, aboard the Empress of Canada. Ladies Night Out 2015 will feature perennial favorite, Mr. Rubba Waist himself, “Jumo Primo from Byron Lee,” joined by the ultimate Chutney/Soca Queen “The One And Only Drupatee”!!! Invariably sold out every year and known to be one of the most popular, well organized and established events in Toronto., Ladies Night Out 2015 will be hosted by Kevin Carrington (Aka the voice from Boom FM). Alongside him will be two of Toronto’s best Caribbean Style DJs: AKX & DJ DOOBZ. Plus a cast of Dancers CMF has added to keep its patrons entertained all night long… Empress of Canada’s Ladies Night Out Boarding (11 Polson St, Toronto) is at 9:00pm sharp for the 5 hour Cruise. The $50 per person admission ticket is meal inclusive.

One of Harbourfront Centre’s most popular festivals, returns for a long weekend celebration of the rich tapestry of Caribbean arts and culture. Island Soul will take the audience on an odyssey across generations. It will trace the roots of modern-day steelpan music from its origins, showcase the diversity of the French Caribbean and celebrate Bob Marley’s immense global impact since his birth 70 years ago. The weekend kicks off with five-time Juno award-winner Jane Bunnett & Maqueque opening for soca queen Alison Hinds. The weekend will close with a three-hour concert featuring the best of Toronto’s calypso and soca artists, in collaboration with the Organization of Calypso Performing Artistes
