Saints Scouts: Kayaking/Canoeing Activity

Displaying _DSC0355.JPGThe Saints’ Venturer Scouts proceeded on their Kayaking/ Canoeing activity on the 5th October, 2014.

Despite the rainy weather, at noon, six venturers, three leaders and four family friends departed Georgetown for Splashmins’ Fun Park in two pick-up trucks. Upon arrival, it was  then disclosed by the staff there that they no longer have kayaks even though the venturers were told otherwise when they contacted the Georgetown office earlier in the week. They were given the sad news after they paid their entrance fees and were not offered a refund.

It was then decided to proceed to Mentus Retreat, Madewini to have a day of water activities. After a simple lunch, the team was still able to do some boating with a canoe in a much more controlled environment. They took turns in paddling and sailing up and down the creek whilst the others swam and had fun in the creek.

The team departed Mentus Retreat in the two pick-ups around 5:30 pm and quickly visited the Fungs’ Retreat on the way out of the trail.

The venturers are still hopeful of doing a proper activity of kayaking.
